What do you mean by "what ... officials are looking for"? Can you be more
precise - what are you afraid of?

Your passport is needed to affix the counterfoil PR visa in it. But if there is
any substantial discrepancy between anything in your passport and info provided
with PR application then you should expect questions.

My apologies for not clarifying in my previous details.

I am in US and have a US visa in my passport.
The visa in my passport has expired but before it expired I applied for a change of status to H1 and my H1 is currenly valid. The issue is that my H1 is in the form of the letter that I got, (I-94) which is not stamped on the passport but is separate.

So, if a canadian officer looks at my passport it would appear that the visa has expired while it has not so.

So should I mail my I94 copies along with it, but the letter from canada says that do not mail anything along with it.

thanx
-WiseGuy

I would include a photocopy of the I-797 that shows that you are
currently in status in the USA along with the paper I-94 that came with
it. Note that the I-797 approval does NOT take the place of a visa.
This way there is no question that you are "in status" in the US and
eligible to complete processing through Buffalo.

you could... unless the letter from the visa office says in not to send any additional stuff with the passport... it seems the reason for this is, that at this point, everything is concluded, when you send in your passport, a junior person in the visa office matches it back with your file, prints the visa, updates caips that the visa has been issued, and puts the passports in the mail...

besides this late in the game they have probably already checked up on your status in the country that you are applying from... and if they didnt ask for the stuff, then dont send it... definately dont send anything if they specifically said in the letter not to send anything but the passports...

Thanks all for your advice. And thanx for everyone else on the NG who made this whole journey of the visa application possible.

I am planning to land next year and join a business school.
Anybody got any comments on
Richard Ivy School of Business
Queens School of Business
Rotmans School of Business

thanx much
-Wiseguy
