Dear Mr. Miller,

My husband and I are trying our best to figure out how not to be separated from one another. We were given two contradictory pieces of information by the Immigration Centre in Buffalo, NY:

As the wife of a landed immigrant

(1) I have to be sponsored for immigration by my husband at a processing center outside of Canada. A visitor visa for me may or may not be approved during the time of the processing of the application.

Problem: My husband and I would have to be separated for several months because he first needs to arrive in Canada (he had already landed but has not yet resided in Canada) and establish residency, then the process can begin but it would be several months before I get a piece of paper that says that my application is likely to be approved on the basis of which I am likely to be given a visitor visa.

(2) I can be sponsored from within Canada. The way to get into Canada is to get a visitor visa.

Problem: If I declare to the immigration officer that the visitor visa I am applying for is for the purpose of immigrating, I will not be given this visa -- Catch 22, isn't it?

I was invited for an interview regarding my application for my visitor visa and we are trying to figure out what to do.

We would really appreciate your help. We would be happy to pay for your advice. Thanks lots!! VM

It most likely was a temporary glitch in the system. I just tested it and everything
works just fine, so please send your email again.
