Default Mr.Miller , please help Registration of stay period outside Canada

Dear Mr.miller

I would like to know how the PR card will be used, namely how the immigration
authority will register the stay outside Canada. We know that it will replace the
Record of landing, which means that it has to be shown when one flies back to Canada.
The PR card must be shown at the port of entry. But do we need to give it to the
immigration officer to register when we leave Canada?

Thank you

Regards Todor

Canada doesn't have exit control. Also note that it is your burden to prove that you
are meeting residency obligations for maintaining PR status or residency requirements
for citizenship application eligibility - government doesn't need to prove nor
register anything. When it comes to showing the proof only hard evidence will count,
not your word...

Also note that in today's world it is very easy to track your movement if someone
wants to do it - there are airlines records if you are leaving Canada by air and
there is entry record to US if you are leaving Canada through the land border
crossing (US and Canadian immigration databases are now permanently linked), your use
of bank and credit cards is always recorded by respective financial institutions,
etc., just to mention a few...

Dear Mr.Miller,

Thank you for your clarifications on the issue. I understand that Canada will
continue the existing policy. I just wanted to know if the Maple card could be used
for time recording as well. Have a nice day...

Regards

Todor

Every time your PR Card will be scanned at the port of entry info will be recorded in
the database, so the answer is yes - it may (and most likely will) be used for
recording your entries to Canada.
