Mr. Miller Please give your opinion
Mr. Miller
I had 3 years job offer at University of Toronto as Post-Doctoral fellow. My employer contacted HRDC office in toronto to request confirmation for this offer, but he was informed that this offer is exempt from HRDC confirmation. Under the new immigration law, do I get any points under arranged employment or Adaptability?
Thank you for your response

No, you won't get any points for it in the Arranged Employment factor. But
after completing 1 years of work in Canada you will get 5 points for
Canadian work experience in the Adaptability factor.
The main factor here is that post-doctoral positions are purely temporary
and may never be converted into permanent position, thus they are not
eligible as an arranged employment.

Thanks Mr. Miller
Thank you Mr. Miller for your reply
I am currently in USA and I applied for PR in April 2002. I am still waiting for the assessment of my application, but I was really counting on this job offer to score more than 75 points. But it seems like I may not get any points for this offer, which brings my score down to maybe 70.
If my application for PR was not accepted, then do you think it is possible for me to apply for work permit, then move to Canada and work for one year then reapply for PR. I think this is the only way for me to get more points in order to qualify as skilled worker. What are the chances that my work permit will be approved?
Thanks again for your reply

Get that job offer and work permit, move to Canada and start establishing
yourself here. Once in Canada you may easier find a job offer acceptable as
arranged employment or if not then after 1 year on work permit you'll have
extra 5 points anyway. So, if you really want to move to Canada then why the
question? Take it and move here.
