Default Moving to canada with a job waiting

My brother has informed me that through his business he can happily offer me a job, all I need to do is get out there. I'm aware of the immigration process and that, for him, he must first prove no one else in the province is suitable and also get the positive index number thingy (the non technical name for it).

Right now, I'm based in the UK and I'm soon to be too old for the working holiday visa (I'm 31 in 3 weeks) and the application window is closed now anyway. Is there any other way I could speed up the process some how?

Like, if I was to simply get a flight out, I think the longest I can stay in Country is 30 days? What would happen if I was to get a stamp in my passport from America (he stays near the boarder), stay for a few days and come back and get a new 30 day visa?

I know a lot of backpackers do similar when travelling Asia (its what my friend did when he toured Thailand) so just curious about doing similar in Canada.

As a UK citizen (assuming you are?), it's up to 6 months entry in to Canada, not 30 days.

But you being in the country won't speed the process up at all, he's still got to advertise the job for at least 4 weeks (if he hasn't already), then apply and wait the 3 months or so for the LMIA as a rough guide. So you might be better off just waiting and working in the UK rather than twiddling your thumbs in Canada and hoping the LMIA comes back positive.

Just checking, but you do have the skills and experience needed for the job? He'll have to prove that as part of the application, so it's no good if the job isn't related to something you already do.

And lastly, the IEC is actually open again for the 2018 program, has been for a couple of weeks now. So apply for that ASAP too in case the LMIA app doesn't come good!

Best of luck.

Thank you for that. In regards to the LMIA, what does this involve? Does it cost money or anything like that? There isn't much information what I can find involved in that process.

I do have the skills required as he's wanting me to be his technical guy and deal with the web side of things and help build specific tech for him. Things I'm doing already in the UK.

Yes, it will cost him $1000 in the fee, plus advertising. The application form is here - https://catalogue.servicecanada.gc.c...DC-EMP5626.pdf

And more info is here - https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-...uirements.html

Perfect. Although they sound like skills that might be available in Canada? But all he can do is try I guess.

And I really would apply for the IEC asap, the first draw is due to be in a week or so, so you never know, you might just get lucky before you turn 31!

Good luck.

There are no shortage of people in Canada with Web skills. He would have to try and hire in Canada, not just in 'the province'. Every effort has to be be made to hire Canadian or PR. This is not just a formality, it is necessary to keep a record of where the job was advertised, who applied and why they were not hired or suitable. ESDC may request proof of advertising and possibly details of the applicants.

If you have very specialised skills that are not available in Canada it may be possible to get this through. It is a $1000 gamble for the employer.

Which province is he in? There is a BC tech pilot that waives the need for an LMIA as they are actively recruiting a range of tech roles (not 100% sure if your role counts, if that is the right province you'd need to check the details and what NOC you fall under).

Also the Atlantic Pilot Project, I believe.

Last time the brother was mentioned by OP, brother was in Alberta.
