Mississauga - family class sponsorship

Hello All,
Anyone knows how long it usually takes to process family class sponsorship
application in Mississauga? We've sent our application in July and didn't receive any
response from immigration office. My wife phoned them yesterday and she was told that
our case is not in the computer yet. Is this a normal situation, or should we worry,
that the immigration office has lost our papers??
As far as I understand, my wife will eventually receive some documents from the
immigration office and then she is to forward them to me (Poland)? My task will be to
send them to Canadian embassy in Poland and wait...?
I'll appreciate any help
Jan.

Hi:
In general, sponsorship approvals take approximately 12 weeks.
Be patient, your wife should be receiving a response relatively soon.
If you have not received a response in the next couple of months, your wife may want
to fax a letter to the CPC in Mississauga.
Once your wife response the sponsorship approval, CIC will forward you the
application for Canadian permanent residency.
Yours truly, Ingrid Y. Chen, B.A., LL.B.

It may take anywhere from 12 to 16+ weeks for your wife's application to be
approved. Once she is approved as a sponsor you should receive the immigration
application kit - you'll need to complete all forms, collect all required documents
and submit your immigration visa application to Canadian Embassy in Warsaw. You will
most likely be called for the interview - you will be asked to prove that your
relationship and marriage are bona fide, not just for the purpose of immigration.
When everything checks OK you will receive medical forms and should expect visa
within 3 to 5 months from medicals. The entire process from the time you submit your
immigration application to Warsaw to the time you receive visa may take anywhere
from 8 to 12+ months.

We have a number of applications pending that were filed in July. = Normally it is a
matter of 8-10 weeks, but now it has been 12 and more. = We have asked the CPC, but I
guess they are too busy to reply at this = time.
If you have sent your package by registered mail, courier or express = post, you can
verify delivery with them to start.

Hi,
I would like to thank everybody for the responses. Great help
I have one more question: back in July we weren't married yet so we filled the
application for sponsoring a fiance. We married in September in Poland and we have to
change our status. Should we wait for the CPC to send us the papers, or should we
deliver to them necessary marriage documents as soon as possible?
Do you think that such change would delay processing of our documents??
Thank you again
Jan.

I understand from your previous post that you haven't submitted your immigration
application yet to Warsaw, is it correct?
If this is the case then just declare in your application that you are already
married and include the copy of marriage certificate. You don't need to change
anything in CPC Mississauga, unless your Canadian spouse has difficulties qualifying
financially to be a sponsor - when sponsoring the spouse sponsor doesn't need to meet
minimum income requirements, although must still provide all required financial
information.
