Migration agency and value for money
Hiya - I going through the Services Canada (SC) proceedure at the mo, I got a job, it's being advertised and now the new employer is generating response, which thankfully has been poor!
Before appointing an agency, I downlaoded a load of forms myself off various web sites and then thought it best to use an agency who knows best.
But little did I know just how much they were going to charge me.
To get to this point, I have had a number of £700 monthly invoices, current running total just over £2,500 and I have submitted nothing to them yet.
In fact, my new employer has employed (and is paying for) a Canadian Immegration consultant to get me through the SC process.
So for £2,500, I have had 2 or 3 emails answered, I have had 3 different migration consultants (each time I have had to find out myself I had a new consultant), I have had hard copies of the forms I had already dowloaded myself of the government web site and that's about it.
No....I tell a lie, they sent my old new employer (it's a long story) the 'how to get through SC process email', which is also readily availabe on the governenment web site.
So, I contested every invoice and of the monthly £700 invoices, a number of them I had halved, some had £100/£200/£150 taken off at the drop of a hat.
Now, I threttened to report them and they emailed me just now, that to end this relationship, they were (and are as I have accepted their offer) going to
credit me £1,000!
I am obviously delighted with this credit as my new consultant, (actually in Canada and registered on the Canadian immegration Law Society), their total charges to get me though is $1,200 + fees.
Has anyone had the same experience with these 'specialists'?

You have been ripped off & I would name and shame if I were you. We used a lawyer for a family class immigration application (before we'd discovered this site) and it cost us aroun $2000 IIRC. The company was Abrams and Krochak & they were dilligent in replying to emails quickly & generally pretty good to deal with.
Are you coming over on a WP or as PR?

My new employer (Downhome magazine, you might know them), employed PF Collins in Duckworth St St John's, I have also gone with them too, start to finish $1,200 (+ fees).
I am coming on temporary work visa but concurrent PR application running PNP.
They tell me that I should have PR in about 18 months.
We are very very excited.

Immigration law is a bit of an offshoot business for PF Collins as their main business is customs clearance & freight forwarding. However I know my next door neighbours employer used them for his & his mrs's application & they got PR this year so they would seem to know what they are about!

We used Abrams and Krochak also and they were excellent. They only asked for payments by installments. So as we went through each phase of the process we were only asked for the payments covering their work to that point. We were in the final stages of PR and they have been very helpful and responded quickly to all our e-mails and phone calls. As AXp said we have paid about $1700 in total. Would thoroughly recommend them.
Good luck ttg with you application.

At least you have now found this website. Just try to keep on going as it will be worth it in the end.
I would search this forum as much as possible and don't be afraid to ask all the questions you can. The people on this site are fantastic. The give you their opinions, experiences and advice. There is a chap on here called Andrew Miller and he is brilliant. He is an immigration expert and he always gives you honest (and free) advice.
Good luck again. I know that it is hard waiting but the folks on here will keep you going.
We heard about out immigration consultants from I guy I used to work with. He wanted to immigrate to Canada so I asked him lots of questions. The poor chap is still sitting in the queue last time I heard but he says that it won't be long now.
Best wishes
