Mental Health
Hello everyone,
If someone suffered from a mental health problem would this prevent them from being able to apply for residency in canada?
I have looked but can't find the answer
Thanks

Re: Mental Health
as far as i understand the main medical criteria are "not likey to cause excessive demand" and " not likely to be a danger to public health"
the first of these is waived for spousal sponsorship.
Obviously mental health issues form a massive spectrum and without more details it would be impossible to give a certain answer as to whether a condition would fall into those two categories

Re: Mental Health
7. Medical inadmissibility
CIC has the policy responsibility with respect to medical inadmissibility [A38]. A38(1) bars entry into Canada to persons with three types of medical conditions:
people with a health condition that is likely to be a danger to public health [A38(1)(a)]; see also R31.
people with a health condition that is likely to be a danger to public safety [A38(1)(b)]; see also, R33.
people with a health condition that might reasonably be expected to cause excessive demand on health or social services [A38(1)(c)]; see also R1 and R34.
