Medicals Fees
Dear All - I just contacted a doctor for getting the medicals done and the fees they charge happen to be $340 per adult. Is it the normal/standard rate or should I shop around?

It depends where you get them done. A doctor in Peterborough, Ontario did
my girlfriend's medicals for $150Cdn.

Sometimes the rate they charge is drasticly different, but sometimes not. Call all designated doctors in the area and simply ask how much, it will take 5 minutes and you might save some $$.

I was charged $370 for the medicals. I wish CIC sets a fixed price for this
service, cause it seems to me that Dr's are just exploiting the situation to
charge an arm and a leg. And even after charging so much there are times when
they provide such poor service in terms of completing the paperwork per CIC
specs and mailing it in a timely manner.

I just called a dr in Scarborough yesterday to do medicals and was
told the charge was $166 if I was not a refugee. They said it was
"cash only". Also said to bring 3 photos and my passport.

Maybe it would be a good idea to make a black-list of costly/poor service
immigration-authorized doctors... Care to start one?
