medical - reffered to own GP

Re: medical - reffered to own GP
bad news on this! looks like nowhere can do these test where I live! the company who done medical cant, the NHS wont let it be referred and nowhere within a couple hours drive who can do it, as partner would need to do 3 daily samples, so would have to take days off work! Looks like it will be a no go! any advice?
That is just my opinion, hopefully others will be along soon to share their views as I don't really know 100% if there are alternatives.
Keep us updated...

I'd second that approach. If my own application gets off the ground then we might have do that for an additional PCC for my OH since getting her country to issue a PCC is a gigantic arse-ache.

I told the specialist I was referred to that I was unable to produce sputum and didn't want to go through the 'expectorated' procedure. The CIC appointed specialist agreed for me to have TB skin tests (Mantoux) and additional xrays instead. Ask the Panel Physician if this would be acceptable. Your GP should be able to do the tests for you and sign off on the document.
There's also a new way of testing - Interferon gamma release assay (IGRA) - which may be another option.
According to the CIC pdf http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/departm...berculosis.pdf on TB:
TB investigation
Upon submission of the complete IME, the RMO may decide to further the client
for additional TB investigation in order to verify abnormalities detected on the
chest x-ray and to rule-out active TB.
Standard and acceptable TB investigation includes:
• Repeat chest x-ray 3 months after the initial chest x-ray; and
• TB smears and solid cultures done on 3 sputum’s collected under direct
observation on 3 consecutive mornings; or
• If sputum production is impossible, chest x-ray must be repeated 6 months
after the initial to ensure stability.
Hope that helps.Upon submission of the complete IME, the RMO may decide to further the client

Alternatively, see if you can find somewhere that will do the sputum testing in one day rather than several* - even if you have to travel - and make a long weekend of it if necessary (as has been suggested).
Edited to say *sorry I just read they want it over 3 consecutive days. You could also try contacting one of the other panel physicians to see if they could do the testing or recommend where it would be available. I'm very surprised that your original PP suggested the NHS as they don't do 'private' testing. What about your own GP or a Private healthcare GP/hopsital? Might be worth asking the PP if that would be acceptable.

I had to have the same tests here in Canada for my immigration medical.

Re: medical - reffered to own GP
we might have come up with a solution on this. on another note, another thing is how can they produce a sputum sample without any problems or cough....it is extremely difficult! from reading what you have said, if reported a sample cannot be produce, I assume there are additional trest/xrays which can be done?
Do give your panel physician - or another one - a call and ask if there are alternatives, such as the skin tests, that your spouse could do.

Re: medical - reffered to own GP
just to update you. My partner could not produce a sputum sample, so the medical office told my hospital just to do a x-ray in 6 months time, after the original. So it may delay the application, but all seems ok now!

Re: medical - reffered to own GP
Not sure if anyone will know this, but as you all know my above situation. Application submitted, medicals done, however my partner needs x-ray in 6 months time before its passed (if xray is same as before). So what happens to my application? on hold? processed where possible and then waiting for medical? any advice be much appreciated

Re: medical - reffered to own GP
As far as I know the application gets put on hold. Ours did as my husband was sent for further testing, albeit for a different issue.
In addition to the testing we paid privately for a consultation with a top and very renowned consultant in the specialist field who then wrote a report to accompany the extra tests saying that there was no issue and it was just a fluke. CIC accepted it without any further issues thankfully.

Re: medical - reffered to own GP
If you can, make sure the immigration people are aware that there is a 6 month wait for the test results. We had a delay on my husband's results and we got a letter from immigration saying that as they had not received the additional information they asked for they assumed that we had decided to withdraw our application and were going to close the file.
Either update them via MyCIC or else use the case specific enquiry - you definitely don't want them to assume you had abandoned your application, by not sending in the required info on time! (You could also ask your Designated Panel Physician to make note on the e-file).

Re: medical - reffered to own GP
Thanks for the info all! I have emailed the London Regional Medical office for IRCC to make sure they know the xray is in 6 months....however they should already know as the Panel emailed to discuss with them. Also raised a case specific enquiry to notify IRCC! Cheers All, have a good weekend!
