Married to Canadian - can I get citizenship?
Hi all,
I want to run a quick question by you all please. I'm a British citizen and am married to Canadian - we've been married for over 10 years. She moved to the UK to live with me. We were wondering whether I can apply for Canadian citizenship, even though I'm not living in Canada. I believe I have to live in Canada for 3 year in order to qualify, but understand that there may be a way around this. Any help appreciated. Many thanks, |

You need to live in Canada as a permanent resident for 3 years.
Has your wife got her British citizenship? |

Only if you claim and prove she gave birth to you. |

Have you got permenent residency? that would be the first step. Which requires applying for a spous visa.
Then once you are PR you have ot stay in the country for 3 out of 5 years before you can apply for residency. Have a look at the wiki it will explain all. |
