marraige to canadian
Can anyone offer any advise on marriage to my canadian boyfriend?
We have been seeing each other for two years and i now have work in Canada as a live in carer.
I am from England and i am on the live in caregivers programme.
I am not sure how we go about this.
Do we have to plan the marriage here or do we have to marry in the UK?
What is the proceedure?
can anyone shed some light on this for me?
as i am here on a live in programme i don't want to mess my job up either. i can't live out and i know this would mean major changes. I really do love this man and i don't know what to do.
i would be very gratful for some advice

Theoretically, as long as you have legal status in Canada at all times,
you will most likely be able to get married and be sponsored from within
Canada. That means, of course, you can carry on as you have been. However,
you may not want to leave Canada until your PR status is finalised as you
could have difficulty being readmitted should you leave without having PR
status.
For more information, (a) visit the CIC web site and (b) you may want to
start accessing this newsgroup directly, rather than through the British
Expats portal. It has proven to be not the most reliable portal.
Good luck.

Re: marraige to canadian
How long have you been a live in care giver and what are your plans to
marry. Once married you can apply inland in canada - slow processing or
apply thru the USA as you presumably have long term status or thru London .
At the risk of being accused of shilling for business you should seek
professional advise or study the info at www.cic.gc.ca . Once married you
may have a problem as you are supposed to cohabit with your spouse and at
the same time you are supposed to live in with your employer.
