Default LMIA confusion

I've been doing some reading around the various provincial nomination programmes, and am confused as to when and where Labour Market Impact Assessments fit into things.

For example, I'm looking at the Ontario Foreign Worker with a Job Offer stream. Reading through the various requirements documents etc, LMIA is not mentioned at all. Also, it does not seem to limit the type of work beyond being in classification 0, A or B.
  • So, does this mean that I could apply for any appropriate job being advertised, and that as long as the employer meets the general eligibility criteria, they wouldn't have to do an LMIA if they wanted to hire me, or is an LMIA still required even though it is not explicitly stated?
  • Does the fact that this stream is not aligned with Express Entry make any difference?
  • If an LMIA is not required, then is it 'simply' (ha!) a case of searching for suitable jobs and applying for them in the same way I would if I were looking for work in the UK?

Thanks in advance,

Phil

LMIA's aren't required for PNP's.

Worth noting though, that the PNP can be more onerous than a LMIA app, so it may not be any easier, particularly in Ontario where the PNP comes with a fairly hefty fee ($2000 versus the $1000 fee for a LMIA app) and where there's a lot of paperwork for the employer to complete.

HTH.

So hypothetically speaking....

If I can find an employer that's willing to jump through the hoops for the Foreign Worker stream, they offer me a job, and Ontario provisionally nominates me, do I get permanent residence without having to go anywhere near Express Entry, or is it that the nomination gives me the 600 points boost to my CRS score that then guarantees selection during the next round's picks?

You need to apply for PR via express entry if at all possible. The processing times for express entry is 6 months verses 18 months for PNP non express entry!
