Leaving the Country
I have applied for my landed and it is being processed but my canadian boyfriend and I recently got married and wanted to go to the USA for a honeymoon but somebody has told me that I cannot leave the country until I have been accepted, is this true. Also being English I am allowed to stay in the country for 6 months without a visa but the 6 months will be up at the end of December so what do I do then? Please can anybody help!!

Re: Leaving the Country
the reason they tell you not to leave the country is because if you are
allpying from within Canada, as it sounds, then you have no guarantee of
being readmitted. So if you are denied entry back into Canada as a
visitor then your inland application is screwed, at least without an
outside one you can jsut return to your home country and wait. SO it is
best to not leave unless you absolutley have to like a family emergency
or something. Have a honeymoon in Canada, that's what we did and there
are some pretty good places to go dpeending on the season.
As far as your status goes, you need to apply for a visitor visa
extension in November (1 month before your status expires) just tell
them you have applied for PR as a spouse of a Canadian and are waiting
for it to be processed and it should be fine. Whatever you do, do not
let your status expire because simply having applied for PR gives you no
legal status in Canada.
