Law regarding stateless child in Canada??, Mr Miller help
I would like to know if there is any canadian law regarding the
stateless persons already present in Canada (particulary a child).
Whant can I do (she is my daugther) if she cannot obtain an extension
of her temporary resident status because she doesn't have a valid
passport o travel document anymore?. We have done everything possible
to obtain one but whithout succes, and I can prove it.
I would like to have your permission to write you a private e-mail
since I need more advice. Our case is more complicate than that and I
don't feel confortable explaining it in a public forum.
Thank you very much

Yes, you may email me directly, although I don't know if I can be of any
help. Travel Documents are issued by Canadian Passport Office to persons in
Canada with protected person status, including convention refugee. Then
there is another travel document called Certificate of Identity which is
issued to landed immigrants who are less than 3 years in Canada and who are
stateless or cannot obtain or renew their national passports for valid
reason (for example their country of nationality doesn't recognize them any
longer as their citizens). It seems that you are not a convention refugees
and don't have protected person status, thus Travel Document cannot be
issued. And as you are not landed immigrants then you of course are
illegible for Certificate of Identity. Your problem most likely lies with
laws of your country and as long as you are here only as visitors and you
are not protected persons then Canadian government cannot do anything. It is
just a snapshot applying to most, usual circumstances - your circumstances
may be unique, so please contact me and I'll try to see if I can help.
