Do I need to update my application for immigration if I get engaged before I land in
Canada? Do the landing papers need to be updated? I plan to get married and sponsor
my spouse only after I land.

I would leave your application as it is. Only if you get married during the process
or before you land should you infomr the visa office.

You only have to notify, if you actually get married before you land.
