Default Landing advice

I will be landing in Canada within a couple of months but I do not
intend to move my residence there yet so I will come back to USA in 3
days.

I would appreciate it if someone can guide me on the following:

1) What documents do I need to carry with me?
2) What is the process at the port of entry?
3) Is there any disadvantge in driving rather than flying into Canada?
4) What proof do I need to carry for proof of funds - bank statements,
cash, etc.?
5) What is the interview like at the port of entry? I am planning to
enter Canada through Niagara - any issues with this?
6) Is it a problem if I tell the official at the port of entry that I
do not intend to settle down in Canada right away?
7) Since I do not intend to settle down right away in Canada, I am not
carrying any "personal items list". When I finally go to Canada to
settle down, will I be able to carry my personal items without paying
any duty?
8) Can I get the SIN card issued at the port of entry? I guess I do
not need to get the medical insurance card & driving license yet but
is there any other thing that I need to take care of?
9) Anything else that I need to keep in mind or be careful about?

Thanks in advance for your advice.
AJ
