Landed in Vancouver YVR
Landed today in YVR international airport. The immigration and landing PR
process was quick and straightforward, just asked some questions to verify
the information in landing paper. No hassles at all, as well in the custom.
Applied for Fido cell phone on first day after landing, as expected, a
credit history is a main problem for new immigrants. They only accept
Canadian credit card.
I submitted my PR form today. The officer said it would take around 6 weeks
although I read some posts here were much earlier than that.
Thinking of finding an apartment in Coquitlam. Any suggestions or idea are
welcome.
Thanks,
Anthony

Plunk down a security deposit to get a cell account, usually about $200,
you'll get it back after a year. For credit card, obtain a secured one like
the offer from "Home Trust," this will establish a credit history for you
with the bureaus like Equifax, etc. After a year you shouldn't have a
problem getting credit, providing you are working and pay your bills within
the due date.
