Landed at last in Edmonton!

Landed at last in Edmonton!
Hi Guys
Just thought I'd let you know that the Stevens family are finally PR's.
We got our passports returned to us on Thursday and yesterday went into CIC in Edmonton to Land - We've been here for 2.5 years on TWP and applied for our PR through Alberta PNP so we can land this way.
Didn't take long, had to get new photos done as they weren't happy with the ones we had on our forms. So we went downstairs to the photo shop where they did our photos in about 10 mins and fleeced us for $60 for the convenience, then back upstairs to CIC and sign forms with the immigration officer about 10 mins later we were PR's, then it was downstairs to service Canada to get our permanent SIN this took longer as they were busy. Could have sorted our healthcare out too in the same building but the kids were hungry and grumpy so we will do that through the post.
So we are all happy immigrants at last!!

I was just wondering what conditions you have to fulfil to be able to land at CIC in Canada?
I have never heard of this before, and thought you always had to go to the border.
