I was sponsored via the spousal route and I am now a Canadian PR.... all good!!!!
Me and wife's marriage was registered in India and the canadian law for immigration says that any marriage legally registered outside canada is legal in canada too, provided canadian law recognizes it!
Now, I was just wondering that we are married according to Indian Law; should we get registered married according to Canadian Law too?? In order to get our marriage listed down in Canadian marriage Register, do we have to do that or is it that we dont need it??
ur advice would be appreciated..

Your marriage in India is recognized and binding upon you and your spouse in Canada. There is no need or requirement or means of registering it in Canada.

So is it that Canadian government is bound by the legal marriage in India????
Like we would be husband and wife under canadian law too, no matter if we are legally married here or not?

Jim already told you that your marriage is valid and recognized in Canada as long as it was legal under the law of the jurisdiction where it was entered into. The only exception from this rule would be multiple marriage or marriage to a minor that are not legal in Canada.
