Just COPR in the post?
Hi everyone,
Hope someone can answer what is hopefully my last needed question about immigration! I am a PR in Canada who has sponsored by husband.
My husband is with me in Canada on an extended visitor visa, we paid his right of permanent residence fee last month. On the application, we put my Canadian address down as the mailing address and his Mum's in England as his residential.
Anyway, his Mum called this morning to tell him there was registered mail in his name today from CIC London.... when she opened it up, it was his COPR form.
We were expecting passport requests etc. Apparently, the form tells him to land at a Canadian port before March.
Is this normal for them to just send out COPR without asking for passports for visa's? Little bit worried...
Thanks
Rebecca

Holders of UK passports or countries not requiring A TRV are no longer issued Immigrant visa counterfoils in their passports so its fine.

Ah, no need for me to worry then! Thankyou, just as well people on here know what's going on as CIC don't communicate very well!

Did they ask for a passport photocopy of the bio data pages and stamped pages?..We're waiting for our PR and someone on another forum said that CIC required them to either mail their passport or copies of their passport pages then they'll be sent the COPR

Re: Just COPR in the post?
We sent them as requested and they didn't do anything with them!!!
They just put the right back in the post with the COPR paperwork.
Also, when we went to get our SIN numbers changed from temporary ones to permanent ones, the woman there was extremely confused by the lack of counterfoil as they apparently hadn't been told that CIC London was no longer putting this into passports.
So, CIC are also rubbish at talking to their own country's agencies who have to deal with new immigrants.

Oh I would say its more of a case of lost in translation, or forgetting CBSA exists when hitting the send button on emails

It is certainly causing consternation at Service Canada as their computer systems just didn't have a way to enter us unless we had the counterfoil and also at the banks, who were looking in our passports for it as well and the only thing they could find was the shabby bit of carbon copy that the border guard had to staple into our passports.
Mind you, he did take a lot of care and do a lovely job of folding them up to fit into the passports pages!

They send us on a weeks course to learn how to do that. Im betting he used a left page of the passport to staple and fold the COPR.
