Default IT job market 2 years hence

Hello,
I am in the process of applying for immigration from India. What are
the likely prospects in the IT job market 2 to 3 years hence, which is
when I am likely to land there. I have 10+ years experience in
software industry, with 3+ years in the field of Software Quality
Assurance. AM I likely to find a job in this field?
Looking forward to good advice,
Littleones.

You need to go to your local fortune teller to get the answer my friend.
Nobody can predict anything for sure 3 years ahead in today's global
economy.

But what is the reason you want to immigrate to Canada in the first place?
If the reason is your desire to live here permanently then you'll find the
way how to adapt and survive. If your reason is to find a job then don't
immigrate at all - seek job offer and work permit instead.

like it or not it;s quite bad because verything is outsourced in india and
other countries anyway. also canada does not have that large IT industry.
Ofcourse some people will tell you otherwise but you have to check it for
yourself. Australia is a better prospect for IT professionals than Canada.

Wow that's some bad grammar and spelling for a supposed english teacher. And
that is total bull to say everything is outsourced to India. Some maybe but
not everything.

Got any sources on this?

Some work will be outsourced but much won't be. There is and always will be
IT work in Canada.

1st you said the guy should go to s fortune teller. I don't believe in fortune
tellers.

2nd about real predictions by groups or people who are real authoritie, in
January 2002 the gartner group (it's on the internet) has this prediction:

"Outsourcing and trusted suppliers will take more control as capital spending
reduces in favor of operating budgets."

it's almost 1.5 years since then and that prediction has proven to be true,
increasingly true.

more hard facts to come upon request.

That doesn't mean there are still jobs in North America. There are lots out
there.

Northernlights, you shouldn't believe everything you read on the Internet! Before putting such faith in predictions by the Gartner Group, perhaps you should go back and revisit their track record and how wrong they were on their estimates for m-commerce, Internet growth, mobile data, etc.

As someone already stated, it is still impossible to predict the job
situation 3 years ahead. Even though you say experts have predicted more IT
work will shift offshore, that is assuming a lot of other things will stay
constant over the next 3 years. As only one of many examples, if the
Canadian dollar were to plummet, at some point it would create a negative
ROI (Return on investment) for outsourcing work offshore. In other words,
it would actually cost the company more money to outsource work offshore
than to employ people in-house.

Outsoursing means cutting cost.

Thanks to all for your attention and help. I think after all the
decision is about finding a balance between a better quality of life
and better career prospects. I would be grateful if I can have some
websites where I can check the situation, analysis, prospects of the
IT industry in Canada.
Thanks a lot.

Not always! Merely saving money isn't always what a company wants. Companies
pay more for loyal employees. Employees who have a vested interest in a
project. People who have been with a project for a long time. Etc.

Just remember that young Canadians are flooding the IT industry with
workers. Unfortunately a lot of well-paying non-IT jobs are going
unfilled. Why? Because the largest segment of the population (the
babyboomers) are retiring between the years 2000 and 2017 (assuming
age 55). And there aren't enoughyoung workers to fill these
positions. IT is one of the worst industries to get into in the west
unless you want to work really hard at building your career. I
recommend reading the book Boom Bust Echo (ISBN 0773762086)
