Not a chance for a car salesman to qualify for intra-company transfer, it just won't happen.

Re: Intra Company Transfer HELP!!!
Hi,
I came over on a Intra company transfer too, and to be honest the immigration people only briefly looked at each of my letters but of course you want to have them with you.
I had:
1) A single page letter of employment from the UK office. My position, how long I've worked there, salary etc..
2) A single page transfer letter stating new salary, position etc.. Must be Canadian headed paper with a HR contact, or contact details of your boss
3) A single page Job offer letter - a bit like the transfer letter. On Canadian headed paper.
Intra company visas are not permanent, so the letter needs to request for a 3year visa. If you don't ask for 3 years then they may only give you 1 year.
4) Rationale for employment - Basically a longer letter that gives a little background to your company, and the reasons why your skills are special and needed in Canada. I work for a media company so I printed some stuff out about them as I suspected the immigration people would never have heard of them (correct). A little bit of info on how great you are.... like a CV really.
On the letters with Canadian headed address etc... make sure you put your boss or HR contact on there as the Immigration people sometimes call them to check everything is as you tell them. I called my contact in Canada to tell them what time my flight arrived so to expect a possible call.
Ours went very smoothly, although we didnt enjoy the flight as you only get issued the visa once you get there. I believe the London CHC can process them in advance - I think it takes a couple of weeks through them.
We arrived a Vancouver airport and the immigration officer wouldnt give my wife a working visa, just a tourist visa. We knew they were wrong but didnt want to push the matter as the officer was getting annoyed that we were questioning them. Anyway a week later we went over to the states on a shopping trip and as we came back into Canada the border immigration people gave her the working visa she should have been given at the airport - sorted.
Once you are in Canada, make sure you keep all your letters as you will need to show them for various things like opening a bank account etc.
Good luck.

Re: Intra Company Transfer HELP!!!
We were advised to arrive in Canada on a Tuesday or Wednesday as the immigration isnt very busy. There was no queue and were seen straight away. We were probably with them for 30 mins... and most of this time was them checking (and then incorrectly) not giving my wife a full work visa tied to mine.
Some other people have put valid points about you needing to prove that you have a specialist skill or knowledge that the Canadian's require. You need to make sure you cover this off on your rationale letter. I'm not a lawyer so I can't tell you whether your job is ok or not.
If there is any doubt, then you can apply to the London CHC for your Intra Company transfer in advance, rather than fly all that way and be turned away before you even set foot in Canada. I was told by the CHC that it would take about 14 days for them to process. We didnt have time and had to take all our paperwork with us and get the visa when we arrived. If you have time get it before so at least you can relax and enjoy the flight.

Re: Intra Company Transfer HELP!!!
I have looked at London CHC website to try and get details/forms to fill in for the Intra CT but had no luck, do you know where I can obtain these forms?

Dean - if Andrew (aka very, very experienced immigration lawyer!) has said that your job is not valid for a transfer then do listen to him rather than ploughing on regardless and wasting time and money. I would also imagine that your company would be less than impressed if they've paid for everything only to find out you don't qualify after all!! Do you have any other way of getting to Canada?

Re: Intra Company Transfer HELP!!!
my Wife just had a transfer approved by CIC. According the the immigration lawyer in Toronto, there's a new CIC office in Toronto, which is where they applied. It took about 10 days to get approval, but she did have to justify quite heavily what her special and unique specialist skills were.
I too would think it highly unlikely that a sales position would qualify. Funnier things have happened though!
good luck anyway

Ok I guess I will have to try another route, thank you all for your advise and time.
I do have a Job offer from them, maybe that might help to get through the process a bit quicker than normal.
Many Thanks to you all
Best Wishes

Re: Intra Company Transfer HELP!!!
I think you should get them to apply for an LMO for you Dean. They do that, you have no input into it, but hopefully if/when you get that, you can go in on a temp work permit.
My employer applied for an LMO for me, which had as a back up to my wifes transfer, and it took 5 weeks.

Re: Intra Company Transfer HELP!!!
Hi,
any of you who recently came to Canada through intra-company transferee program applied for PR yet? I'm not able to find whether there are any requirements for a PR application, or would you have to utilize the SW route?
I was reading up on the CEC progam about to come out and as far as I understand under that scheme a temporary worker would have to satisfy a two year Canadian working experience to be able to apply...
Once you apply, how long does it take? I heard some people say since you are in Canada that your application would be expedited (of course, with a permanent job offer).
Thanks,

This page will hopefully answer the ones above............http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Fast_T...ication-Canada And I believe it usually takes around 6-9 months.
Hope that helps, best of luck.

Re: Intra Company Transfer HELP!!!
Hey christmasoompa, thank you for the welcome and your help!
I was doing a bit more digging and stumbled upon that document too, but I am still a little confused. Is there a specific PR application, or would you have to apply as SW and be assessed under those requirements (the points system).
Where would you send your SW application once you are in Canada on TWP?
6-9 months is pretty good!!

I believe that you send your application to London but I'm not 100% sure on that so do check it - I think it mentions it in the wiki article I gave you the link for.
Good luck!!
Edited to add: have just read the article, and yes, assuming you are a British citizen you have to send it to London with all requisite documents. It says "In order to be fast-tracked, your PR application must be submitted to another visa office to which you are entitled to send it. For most British citizens that visa office is the Canadian High Commission in London."
