Default Initial Assessment- 2001 applicant (File transferred to Buffalo in Feb 2002)

Hello all,

At last I have got my initial assessment after long wait of about 22 months (30 months from the date of original application). Anyway, I am happy now, as they asked me to undergo medical examinations and send police certificates from RCMP (as I am in Canada now on study permit) within 60 days.

They also asked me to send a reference letter and transcripts from my employer and university along with bank statement for the last 3 months or so within 90 days.

The thing is I have a son back in India. He underwent an open-heart surgery this year (in April, he just turned 3 on hospital bed) and now he is completely recovered and doing very well.

My question is: will this history is going to affect in anyway in his medicals? And can he undergo medicals in India, while myself and my wife do it here in Canada?

I would be thankful for any response to the above queries from the experts and fellow group members.

Hope all 2001 applicants will now receive response from Buffalo/respective CHC's

Regards

Damodar

It may or may not affect your application and no one can say here. If the
prognosis is good it is probably not a problem but only the immigration
department can say for sure.

Hi Samanta,

Thanks a lot for your good wishes and for expressing concern about my son. I thought of sending a personal mail to you about this. Anyway, you got this through this forum.

Hope you will also hear the news from CIC very soon. Pl don't lose your patience.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your input.

Here I have one more query:

Just now I have noticed some small errors on medical forms of my son and spouse.

The errors are: My son's name is "ABHINAV REDDY" but it printed as "ASHINAV REDDY" in the enclosed medical forms.

And similarly my wife's first name is "SWARNA LATHA", but the same is printed as "LATHA" and the first part of her first name is given in the surname (just next to surname i.e. CHINNASANE SWARNA).

I know that they have asked me to check the accuracy of the information and to advise them if any errors are found in th information.

Now my question is: what should I expect when I call them and tell about these minor errors? Will they send the medical forms again or will they ask the DMP or myself to make necessary corrections in the forms?

Any clue on the above will be appreciated.

Regards

Damodar

Every applicant must pass medicals, even newborn baby. No exceptions. It is
the law.

You can change to spelling when the medical is done. But you should also
send letter with proof of the correct name to the visa office.

Jim,

Thank you very much for clarifying my doubt. As you said , I would make necessary corrections (anyway, I will try to talk to some one in CIC before doing that) and send a letter to that effect with necessary proof .

Once again thanks for your prompt reply.

Hi Reddy,
I have read most of your postings here, and I know what you've gone through so far, therefore I will like to congratulate you for that. By the way, did they include your points! also did you send them IELTS score? the thing is I am currently, doing my masters here in Canada, I also did my undergraduate in Canada, I am from South Africa, Overall I have lived in Canada for close to 7 years.
I sent in my application in January 2003(in Buffalo, skilled category.) For the English language proof I only included a letter from university of Toronto (where i did my undergraduate) and Mcmaster University (where I am currently doing my MBA) and a personal letter describing my training and proficiency in English, and also a letters from my south African emloyers indicating that english was the mode of communication at work. Do you think I should also send them the IELTs score? Moreover, I have alraedy sent them my undergraduate transcript, do you think I should send them my current masters Transcript, although I will be done in April 2004?
Reddy, once again congratulations and hope the rest of the processing goes well for you.

Hi esteloval,

Thanks for your appreciation. As for your questions, pl see my answers to the same below

Points: No, this time they did not include any points in the letter I have received. (you know that I was awarded 74 points when I needed only 70, but it was refused, as they overlooked the original date of application). In fatc, I don't know actually under which law my case was assessed now. (I think I would qualify in both of them, as I have 79 points at present)

IELTS: No, I did not submit IELTS, but I submitted only a letter from the university auhtorities to that effect. I did not even sumit a written explanation from my side specifically, indicating my proficiency in English launguage. (But, I did make huge correspondence with RPC, Buffalo, when my case was refused. I think whole correspondence has come to about 60 pages) Maybe, that would have been an explanation for my language skills (Experts: I am not sure about it, so no offence please!)

But as far as your case is concerned, I can't suggest anything as most of the experts strongly advise to take the test as it would give a solid base to your points under language factor. I think now-a- days, they are asking all to submit IELTS (no matter where you obtained your higher education) so that they can award the points according to the score one has obtained in IELTS.

if you have any other issues, pl feel free to contact me.

Hello Reddy,
Once thank you very much for your reply. I have some friends who went through lots of difficulties before getting PR, but your case is very unique, after going through all these problems, they have made mistake in the spelling of your wife and you kid's names. what I will suggest is that keep the hope high, and everything will be fine at the end.

One problem I have regarding the IELTS is that I sent my application in December of 2002 and they started processing it Jan 2003. Therefore, I am not sure whether there is enough time for me to register for the test(IELTS) and write it since Buffalo is currently assessing November and will soon start assessing January. Any suggestion will be much appreciated and good luck with your processing

Hi Esteloval,

Since you did not receive your application back for want of IELTS (Though, considerable time is lapsed from the date of application) from Buffalo, it appears that they are convinced with your written explanation. I would suggest to wait until further notice from Buffalo. Meantime, it would be better, if you can send your transcripts of MBA from MacMaster.

Hope this helps.

Coming to the spell mistakes on medical forms, I don't think that' s a big issue.

Hi damodar,

Did you get your student's visa after you applied for the PR or before.

I have my application pending since Oct 2001 and I want to do further studies in Canada as i have my folks there, but i heard a student's visa is difficult when you have already applied for PR.

Is it true. Please let me know. Also what kind of studies are you doing there.Pls reply.
