We apply in category: " independent immigrants". We send our applications on Nov 6th
2001 and on Dec 24th 2001 we got our file number from Canadian Consulate in Buffalo.
We were surprised that it was so quick.

Our friends applied 4 years ago in the same category and they had to wait only 6
months for an interview.

Will the new immigration law rules concern us if we got our file number before Dec
17th 2001 ??? Do we have to wait longer for an interview because of changes in
immigration law ????

Thanks. Kinga

The new selection criteria will apply to your case if you won't receive interview
waiver or pass the interview before the implementation of new law (June 28th, 2002).
If this will be the case you will have to reach 75 points in the new selection grid
to qualify, as you applied before December 17th, 2001. As for the processing time in
the current transition process - will have to wait and see...
