Important Family Class Question
Hi
I am a Canadian PR who is divorced. I have not other close relatives
other than my younger sister back home. I was wondering whether I
could apply for my sister as a family class application under the "any
other relative class"..
I do not have any other relative who is a citizen or a PR and no close
relatives other than my uncles and aunts and cousins back in my home
country.
Please note that I had applied for sponsoring my wife earlier when we
got married. Would CIC consider my divorced wife to be an existing
relative.
This is my second post in this regard... I would be really
appreciative of any response from the experts...thanks

You can sponsor relatives or family members from abroad if they are:
spouses, common-law or conjugal partners 16 years of age or older;
parents and grandparents;
dependent children, including adopted children;
children under 18 years of age whom you intend to adopt;
brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces or grandchildren who are orphans; under
the age of 18 and not married or in a common-law relationship; or
you may also sponsor one relative of any age if you do not have an aunt,
uncle or family member from the list above who you could sponsor or who is
already a Canadian citizen, Indian or permanent resident.

If your parents are deceased you may be able to sponsor your sister.
Your divorced wife does not count as a relative now but youare stil
repsonisble for her. I hope she is not on welfare. THese applications
are rare.

Re: Important Family Class Question
I think he said he had uncles though so would they not count as another
family member before the sibling as per " if you do not have an aunt,
uncle or family member from the list above who you could sponsor "
