Immigration Process
For the experts:
Is this how the immigration process works:
After receiving the AOR the CIC does a background check on the applicant and then decides on the interview waiver and finally the medical papers are sent.
Is this correct or can this vary?
(ie. background check done after the medicals or background check done simultaneously while the medical papers have been sent ) .

Y!

Re: Immigration Process
Generally from what I know, after sending the AOR your file goes into a queue for
assessment, and after assessed (the 30-40 weeks timeframe after AOR for Buffalo
currently) an officer decides if you qualify to proceed further, and if you dont they
send you a letter of refusal. If you do qualify, then they either waive your
interview or tell you one is required (they could also say nothing about the
interview which I take to mean "we dont think we need an interview now, but we will
call you for one at a later daye if we feel its necessary) and send you the medical
forms, and also ask for any other documents. This is potentially when the background
check starts, although there is no gurantee on that. It all boils down to when the
visa officer asks for one, and he/she can ask for a check at any time throughout the
process (before the assessment letter if there is evidence to suggest you are a
security threat, immideately after the assessment, after the medical, after the
interview etc)
Then again, I'm no expert, apologies for having said anything and breaking
the chain
