Default Immigration Interview

Hello , I am a Masters Student in the University of waterloo. I applied for Canadian
PR on June 2001. On March 2002, I got my medicals along with that a personal
interview letter at the Canadian Consulate general in Detroit. My file has already
been transferred from Bufallo to detroit awaiting interview scheduling. For the last
two months, my file is in detroit.

I am also asked to do all the medicals and send them back only after receiving an
interview date from the detroit Consulate.

I have two questions

1. How long does it take to get an Interview date in the Detroit Office?

2. What are the likely questions that may be asked on a personal interview with the
Visa officer and what preparations should I make considering the fact that I have
already received the medical forms?.

I appreciate your help in this regard.

Thanks, Venk

Default Re: Immigration Interview

1. Interview queue is about 8 to 12 months long.

2. Nobody can tell you what issues will be covered at the interview without being
able to fully analyze your entire application package and your file in
CIC. Interviews are required when processing officer cannot make final selection
decision based solely on submitted application and documents - there is
something missing or something what needs to be verified, clarified or assessed
at the interview. So, without deep knowledge of your case it is impossible to
tell you what questions you'll be asked. Majority of those who applied through
Buffalo from Canada (being here on EA or student visa) receive interview waiver,
so something serious is missing or needs to be verified with your case.

As for medical forms - Buffalo sends them to everyone with (or shortly after) the
assessment notice - so, there is no significance of any kind with the fact that you
received such forms. Letter clearly stated not to undergo medicals until shortly
prior to interview date, as medicals are valid for 12 months only.
