immigration based on skill basis from within canada
Hello,
Can you please tell me how much time does it take if you file the
immigration within canada. If your online status states that the file was
moved to montreal what does that mean?

Re: immigration based on skill basis from within canada
There is no within Canada process for Skilled Workers class. PR visa
application must be filed through the proper visa post abroad.
What online status you are asking about? PR visa application or CSQ
application? Montreal indicates that it is a CSQ application. If it is the
case then after you get CSQ then you must file PR visa application through
proper visa post abroad - PR application process for CSQ holders may take
anywhere from 6 months to about 2 years, depending from many factors.

Re: immigration based on skill basis from within canada
Mr Miller, I have just read posts in this newsgroup saying that when
applying for Permanent residence in Canada(independent skilled worker) from
USA, one needs to show proof of legal entry into USA, but not necessarily proof
of current legal status. In other words, visa
overstays and being out-of-status would not be a problem for a non-US citizen
applying from USA. Is this correct?
Thank you,
Ale

Not really - you must have misread one of my posts or are referring to
someone else's post.
Buffalo is quite clear lately - they request proof of being lawfully
admitted for at least 12 months but also having current legal status (H1,
L1, J-1, F-1, etc.) in US. We have numerous inquiries from applicants out of
status in US asking what to do now after Buffalo returned their
applications.
