IM0008-non accompanying children.....
Hi all, I've just been reading a few old threads and it's got me a bit twitchy!
We are just putting the last bits or our application together, and I'm now wondering if we've been labouring away under a misconception all this time......
Our two sons have been added to the application (as required, with all supporting documents, police checks etc) but will be staying in the UK with their Father.
Our sons are 18 and 21
On page 2 of IM0008 we have put a cross in the 'NO' box under their names, indicating that they will not be accompanying us to Canada.
On page 1 of IM0008 under " How many family members are included on this application for permanent residence in Canada" we have entered 2 ( me and my wife)
Is this correct OR have we got it all horribly wrong!!!!..............HELP!
We are a July 07 application so it's been a long haul already and I don't want to cock anything up and delay the process unduly.
Cheers..............
PS.
I've just been looking at the London visa office specific instructions again, and I'm now not sure if we have to provide some sort of proof of " fulfilment of custodial obligations"!?
What these would be I've no idea! The CSA have had no involvement with our situation and no money passes hands between the two birth parents. So we have no maintenance agreements and no documentary proof! I hope this is me being over careful and paranoid!!!!
Once again......Help!

call CIC an ask them, sounds ok but im not a visa specialist
surely as they are both over 18 you wouldnt have to provide financial support for them anyway? ( or am i being naieve as my kids are 9 and 7 and they dont all leave home at 18?)

Number of Family members
Write the total number of family members included in your application. This includes yourself and any family members regardless of whether they are accompanying you to Canada or not.
Don't know about your other queries hope this helps on one point though!

Hi TJ and Robin,
Thanks for the clarification on that.
So it looks like we put 4 and not 2 on page 1 of the form? (even though there are only 2 of us actually moving to Canada!) Ah.... the joy of interpreting questions! Paranoia sets in and you seem to able to give several different answers to any given question. And the more you read it the worse it gets!
Now..... custodial obligations. Anyone got any ideas or experiance.....
Cheers.

Hi Lindita,
We are still waiting to hear back from the powers that be!
In the end we didn't send any extra paperwork concerning custodial obligations. So we'll have to wait and see!!
I'm still hopeful we'll hear something before xmas,,,,,

We are asking my husband's ex to sign a letter stating that there are no arrears of child support and hopefully it will be enough...
Good luck and hoping you receive good news before Xmas!!

Hi,
Yes you have to supply photos of all depandent children, whether accompanying or not. All that sort of info is on the guidelines somewhere! (although I know it can be tough reading!).
Cheers!
