Default IELTS and TEF Exams

Respected Professional,

I am originally from India studied all my life in a English School
(Convent Educated) also did my bachelors in Commerce from india and
now did my Masters in Business Administration from a US Govt
Recognised university.

DO I STILL NEED TO TAKE THE IELTS TESTS.

In regards to French do i need to take the TEF test to prove my basic
knowledge, in school i did study french for 2 full years. Do i still
have to attempt for the test. is it true that u give the test only if
u need 8 points and not if you need 2 points..

please suggest.
thanks,

Those facts are irrelevant - you must submit evidence of your proficiency in
languages claimed. See here:

You may get away with a submission documenting your education and use
of English however you may have a problem in French. A visa officer is
unlikely to give you 2 points for French on the basis that you took
french for two years in school. Pense-tu?

It has now been months on end that the new rules (not so new now) have given
people an easy way to remove the officer's opinion from the decsion making
process.

I really do not understand the reluctance of people to provide what would be
deemed ABSOLUTE proof.

Do the tests, you will be happy you did.

And, just for information, many people in your situation do not do as well
on the tests as they think they might.

You should probably practice first just to see how it would go so you are
not dissappointed.

www.immigrationlanguagetesting.com is a site that we have used for some of
our clients to determine a likely level and to advise on study focus.

Hi Desi,

Simple rule: if english is not your mother tongue, take both tests. Like my
country the philippines, were we took english since kindergarten till you
finish college. After the new policies released, still we need to take the
IELTS test.

Dear Desi:
YES, you have to take the IELTS Tests

This depends if the person is going for French as a First Language or a
Second.
If you want to be sure to even get the 2 points its better to go TEF
(otherwise you leave it to desecration of the officer. Keep in mind case
law forbids the INTERVIEWER (at time of interview) to make a language
assessment as s/he is an immigration officer not a Language Official)
