Question IELTS question - General Training or Academic?

Hi,
Can we use IELTS academic test results to apply for "permanent residence: Federal skilled worker class (IMM 7000)" visa?

I have ample score in that test (IELTS academic ) that I took a year ago (7.5 in Listening, Writing, Reading and 6.5 in Speaking). Will this get me the maximum score from the first language i.e. 16 points.

Thanks in advance!

you have to take general training usually. But i think acadamic is acceptable.

as you have 7.5 for listening, reading and writing you will get 4 points each for them. but for speaking you have 6.5 only(high level score is 7) so you would get 2 points for it. so in total you would get 14points, not 16.

hope this helps. if you are intending to take the ielts exam again, take the General traning one.

hmm, i really think you have to take the general one, i doubt that they will accept the academic one at all but i guess i could be wrong. i would seriously double check if i were you.

I also think that you have to take the general one, I'm sure I've read on here before that they won't accept the academic one. So definitely double check it.

In any event, they do have a time limit on them and I have a vague recollection that it might be a year, so you may have to do it again anyway.

Well, CIC do recommend 'General' but I would have thought that 'Acedamic' should be equally good enough cuz its harder than the 'General' version. Anyway, the point is to prove your language abilities and this is just my personal opinion.

You should go along with CIC in this as they have chosen the "General" test for their purposes.
