IEC to PR
Hello
I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction...
I've checked the Wiki, past threads, and the CIC website - both IEC & PR (FSWP) but cant find an answer.
My husband & I applied for PR in May 2013 (got PER in July 2013)....and as our visa office is London we've heard nothing further so far. We applied for IEC last year, as a back up in case PR didn't happen for us. Now I know we can do IEC whilst waiting on PR (which we are planning on starting this summer).
My question is this:
When IEC finishes after the year (we cant do a second IEC as my husband will be over 30 at this point), and say we still havent had a Decision Made on our PR...what are our options?
Can we stay working on Implied Status until PR comes through?
Do we need to flagpole and come back on a Visitor Visa & not work till PR comes through.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much, Gillian

Re: IEC to PR
You can't stay on implied status, no.
But you could get a Bridging Open Work Permit. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/departm...2012-12-17.asp
HTH.

Re: IEC to PR
Thanks Christmasoompa - I'll look into a Bridging Open Work Permit.
We've applied for PR via the Federal Skilled Worker - the new one that opened up last year.
Thanks again, Gillian

Re: IEC to PR
Exact situation happened to me, and I was able to get a visitors visa (that lasted 1 year, not the regular 6 months) after my IEC expired. This was for while I was waiting for my PR to come in, and luckily I only needed to wait a few months.
I was not allowed to work while I waited!

Re: IEC to PR
Thanks conjonway - good to know!
Did you flagpole, explain your situation, and get a sympathetic & understanding officer in order to get a year instead of 6 months?
Dont mind doing it this way (a long holiday would be nice), just don't want to have to come back to the UK for a short period of time, to then head back and start all over again.

Edit: Sorry just noticed you're on the FSWP, so it may be a little bit different. Apologies if I'm being misleading

Ah no worries conjonway, still interesting to know that it could be an option - although I think I am more keen on the long holiday time than my husband :-)
