Default How to start Immigration process ?

Hi,

I want to start the immigration to canada shortly. I enquired some of the immigration
consultants, but they charge too much. So, I want to process by my own. In India, who
is the governament authority to provide the application forms, guidance, etc . ? If
any one has already migrated using this way, I request them to provide the details.

Regards Vasanth

Hi Vasanth,

All the information you need to get started is on the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website at:

http://www.cic.gc.ca

The application forms are also downloadable from there, too.

Good luck,

Claire

Based on my experience, I'd recommend you leverage a consultant. To me, it's worth
the money.

You can find everything you need (wrt forms) at the CIC website, as well as a lot of
information about the process.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/

There are also a lot of websites and discussion groups that can help you along in
terms of information. Even though an immigration lawyer is not required for most
straightforward cases, it is recommended that you atleast at a minimum consult with
one if your case is anything but completely straightforward.

If your English is good, do it yourself, but hire a consultant who will = agree to
work with you on AN HOURLY BASIS.

That's what I did when I was doing my own immigration in Moscow, Russia, = in 1997: I
found a guy who knew a lot about all this stuff, so I paid = him US$100 for 1 hour,
and then we met again for another hour.

My total expenses for his consulting services were US$200. And the guy = really knew
what he was talking about.

I arrived in Canada 18 months later.
