Hi,

I would like to know, when to start with the process of immigration, when we want
to move to Canada in october 2002? Is January 2002 fast enough? Or should we
start earlier?

And what time do we need when I allready have a joboffer?

We live in Holland (The Netherlands), and already made sure we do have our 70 points
each. We've not planned to use an immigration consultant.

Thanks! Antoinette

If you are hoping to move to Canada in October of 2002 then you should start
application process immediately. The average processing time may be anywhere from 8
to 24+ months depending from many factors like your nationality, countries of current
and previous residence, interview requirements, etc. Even if you get lucky and have
the entire process concluded in short period (8 - 12 months) then remember that
immigration visa will be valid for 12 months from the date of your medicals, so you
will have plenty of time on visa to move in October 2002. It is highly unlikely that
you will even receive medical forms before the end of this year if applying today.

January 2002 may be a little late for such an application. Given the duration of
the process and the typical validity of landing documents, it may be best to
start approximately 12 to 16 months in advance of the expected October arrival in
your case.

Hi:

Keep in mind the following: Processing times will increase if you do not receive an
interview waiver; also your immigrant visa will expire one year from the date of your
medicals unless otherwise stated.

Yours truly, Ingrid Y. Chen, B.A., LL.B.
