Default how long from 'in process' to meds request?

hello all!

our aor is nov. 3rd, 2010. additional docs were subsequently requested and sent in late december. i only started checking our status in the new year and it's been 'in process' for about a week now that i know of. looking at others' timelines, i'm starting to think that about a month passes from going 'in process' to receiving the meds request? am i right or wrong?

i'm feeling like this is the most difficult part of the process for us - the wait for the meds request - i guess because i think if we get that, we're pretty much set as we're lucky to be healthy. so any information or thoughts you'd like to share would be really welcome

You should check the processing times shown in CIC's website for each category and visa office. Start here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/informa...imes/index.asp

Dear Jade77

Will you please share the details of your application timeline. The details you have provided are a bit vague...

Do you mean your ECAS already states that you are "in process'' after just a week or two after submitting your full docs, or not? That is just amazing! We have submitted full docs in March 2010 and after nearly 10 months our ECAS STILL does NOT state that we are "in process"! It still states that our docs have been "received by the visa office, pending review..."

Would like to compare our dates. Please share your full timeline unto moving into process, if you don't mind.

Regards,
CJ

thanks jim and cherry jam for your replies.

we first submitted our application in april '10, got the 120 day email the first week of july, sent the docs in late october, received the aor (by email) early in november, then a few wks later another email requesting additional docs, nothing major (i actually believe they may have misplaced some of the docs they were requesting because i am 101% sure i did send them). we sent in this other batch of docs right before christmas. about a wk ago i checked our status, it says 'in process'. i thought that was a bit quick too...

our visa office is vienna, but i didn't think that mattered too much as the average processing times for this office and london differ by a couple of months only (vienna does appear to be a bit faster... but this seems almost too quick?!)

any thoughts?

Thanks Jade!

Good for you! I am very glad that you have it plain sailing...enjoy it! You will be in Canada before you know it! Hope all goes well until the end.

A friend of ours submitted docs in Sydney, Australia's visa office and also glided through the process in five months! So it IS possible...Have fun!

Kind regards,
CJ

Hi CJ

Have you sent CIC a case specific email? 10 months and still waiting to go in process is insane! The whole process should only take approx 12 months from AOR to PR. My timeline is similar to yours and I went in process in August. I really hope you get an answer soon.

Dear Melsa

Thanks for your concern!

That is JUST how I am reasoning - 10 months after AOR, still no progress, and it is only supposed to take 12/13months! ...I am beyond myself trying to figure out what the situation is.

I have already sent TWO emails and they have not answered ONE!

It is clear that our application will be finalized only WAY after it reaches the 12/13months mark...

CJ

Hi Jade
We are PNP nominees, our appplication was in London on 6th July and went into process on the 29th July. We only received our med request on Tuesday (11 January - it was posted opn the 6th!). When I sent ours I had assumed going by the timelines we would have it in 6 weeks but those days seem to be long gone. Through our stream we were supposed to be fast tracked !
Sorry to disapoint you but I think you will have a few months of agony before they arrive.

We were the same - also PNP applicants. We went to 'in process' on 29.8.10 and currently still waiting for the med request. We had been told 5-7 weeks, but that has expanded since we applied to 5-7 months by the look of it! Which has not been good for my mindset It seems to be very hit and miss for how long you might have to wait, but the link given already for timeframes for applications will give you a rough idea.

Hi there, I'm new to this site but I can tell you that, like you, I thought it would only take a matter of weeks before we got our medical requests from submitting all our paperwork but that didn't happen. We submitted our paperwork in February last year and didn't get medical requests until August so don't get too worried if it takes a few months to come through. Our medicals were done and paperwork returned mid August and we are now waiting for our PPR so it has been a long wait!

thanks to everyone who's posted when all's said and done, the important thing is to get that meds request, no matter how long it takes, so we'll just settle down for what may be a longish wait. if everything works out, it'll be well worth it

and i have resolved not to: a) compulsively check e-cas and b) compulsively check my spam folder (in case a email from the visa office somehow made its way there). waiting around for the mail is not an option, so if i manage to do this, i think we'll be ok.

all the best to everyone, let's hope those PPRs start coming in fast

Btw Jim I keep meaning to ask, for which visa office were you formerly an officer?

That's ridiculous they didn't respond to your emails. I sent one in January and they replied my file is awaiting review by an officer. I hope you hear something soon.

Hi Melsa

I finally GOT an answer from them! It stated that our application was EITHER in process OR waiting for the review by an immigration officer AND to please keep communication with them to the minimum...

So waiting is all we can do...

Regards
CJ

Really glad you finally heard something off them. I just wish I could erase the memory of my family and friends knowing we want to emigrate as i'm fed up of having no answers to their questions. I'm sure it's the same for you too. It is re-assuring to know other people are in the same boat - one that's obviously got lost at sea!!

Fingers crossed the process starts moving for us soon.
