How long is PR valid for?
I'm in the process of applying for my Canadian Citizenship cert & then I'll be sponsoring himself & the kids for PR. I'm wondering though if PR is only valid for a certain period of time, ie would we all have to move within a set period of time or could we wait a year or 2 if we choose to?

After landing though you only have to stay in Canada a minimum of two years out of any rolling 5 year period after you land in order for their status to not lapse, so in theory could leave immediately upon activating PR for a max of three years, as long as they didnt leave canada during the remaining two years. Even then there are exceptions if married to a citizen...read up on the cic website, its all there.
HOWEVER, if you are canadian born (not canadian by decent) and the mother of the kids, then the children may also likely qualify as Canadian, so PR potentially only applies to your fella, and as he would be with you his PR status should be safe anyway.

Thanks iaink, I'm a citizen by decent so the kids aren't citizens. I'm not too sure on when exactly we'll be going, but I guess I should have my citizenship cert got & be ready with the PR applications. I believe it takes up to 12mths for PR to come through outland?
