how long to issue visa?

how long to issue visa?
now i'm starting to over analyse and worry.
if we send the passports away tomorrow will we have everything back from CHC in time for our flight in Oct. (which i've still to book).
how long has it taken everyone (lucky people) to get their visas after sending their passports to london?
hubby and I are discussing the option of me going to london rather than posting passports, we're just not sure if my boss will be happy with me taking the time off...
think that's my "worry for the day" :-)
