How long is the Immigration Visa Stamp usually valid ?
Hi All,
If you have recently got an Immigration Visa stamped on your passport
after receiving a Passport Request, could you please share the
information as to how long the Immigration Visa Stamps are valid.
i.e. do they have a time limit like 6 months, 1 year, etc. I do
realize that the max validity of the Application is one year from date
of Medical Exams, but I was wondering if people could share if there
is some specific date of validity on the Visa Stamp itself.
Thanks in Advance.

It is usually exactly 12 months from the date of medicals or less if
passport expires sooner. Why? Because 12 months is how long medicals are
valid and unless your medicals are extended (for some reason) your visa
cannot be valid longer.

Re: How long is the Immigration Visa Stamp usually valid ?
Hi Mr. Miller,
Thank you very much for your response.
I wanted to know that if there was any specific date on the Visa Stamp
for its validity, in addition to the 12 month time limit from the
start of the date of medical examination ?
So Mr. Miller, from what you are saying I assume that there is no
other validity date specifically mentioned on the Immigrataion Visa
stamped on the passport and that regardless of when the Visa is
stamped we have "at least" 12 months from the start of Medicals to
land ?
Thanks once again.

You cannot extend the visa once issued so don't count on doing so. It is
better to say that the visa is valid for no more than 12 months from the
date of the medicals.

Re: How long is the Immigration Visa Stamp usually valid ?
No, you misunderstood my comment. I was telling you how long PR visa can be
valid, not that there will be no certain validity date printed on visa. And
such validity is not "at least" 12 months from medicals - it is at most 12
months from medicals, not a day longer unless for some reasons validity of
your medical decision got extended. So, under normal circumstances you will
have no more than 12 months from medicals to land in Canada.
There is the date of issue and an expiration date printed on the PR visa.
