home-schooled students
I hope this is appropriate for this group..
I am a homeschooled student living in the US, and have been condsidering
attending college in Canada.
Are there any special requirements needed to be accepted into a university
in Canada, and/or is a GED required/needed?

Pretty well all of the colleges have their own websites where you can find
answers toadmissions requirements etc. My feeling is that unless you took
standardized tests you may have a problem.

This coming year, and a couple years after is going to be a special
problem in Canada for acceptance into university / college.
The province of Ontario eliminated Grade 13 (aka OAC year) and as a
result there is a double cohort of high school grads seeking entry into
universities and colleges in Canada. It's particularly bad in Ontario,
but other provinces are facing increased applications and are therefore
being far more selective about who they are willing to take.
For more info check out the OFTP (Ontario Federation of Teaching
Parents) http://www.oftp.net and the Canadian Homeschooling page

There are some colleges and universities who've been taking homeschooled
students based on portfolio. How acceptable that will be for the next
few years is anyone's guess. Even kids in Ontario high schools have no
idea even if they meet the official criteria whether they'll get it.
