Default HELP! Landing in Canada on IEC while PR is processing

Hey Guys,

I have exhausted my resources trying to find the answer to this and came up fruitless, so hopefully someone on here can help!

Basically I am in the UK, and applied for Federal Skilled Worker visa last year, and it is currently in Londons hands awaiting the next stage (hopefully medical request!)...it is still within the 13month timeline, and if it remains there should be PR by September 2011.

My partner is a Canadian citizen who is moving back to Canada this summer, and I am wanting to go with her. I have applied and been accepted for the IEC visa, but i am worried what happens if I land this summer with that visa?

Am I able to change my FSW application to 'in Canada' or what do I have to do with that visa? I obviously want to keep the FSW application as it gives me PR!!

Also Guys we dont want to get married just quite yet for you looking for the easy option

If anyone has any experience of this please please share your thoughts!!

Thank you so much for your help!

According to the FAQs on the IEC website

"I have applied for permanent residence status and I’m waiting for my file to be processed. Can I go to Canada in the meantime under the IEC initiative?

The IEC initiative is not designed to provide work permits to those waiting for permanent residence status. However, if you meet the eligibility criteria of the initiative, you are welcome to submit an application to participate."

you will be fine to use IEC whilst waiting for your PR to come through

Thanks for the reply!

Thats good to know - I just wonder about what happens when passport requests and so forth come in!

I know there were two ways to apply for FSW, outside and inside canada so I dont know if this would be a factor too! Whether London would be OK with me being inside Canada...!

we are doing the exact same thing, going over in Sept on the IEC while our PR is still in process. I don't think it will be a problem. I have no idea when our PR will come through- the only thing I am still confused about is where we take the medicals if we are already living in Toronto on the IEC!

you are over thinking it. Lots of people are in canada whilst PR is being processed.

Just make sure that they have an address to send you any correspondance/ requests for more information etc. London are famous for sending things to the wrong address if you tell them you have moved.

you can take your medicals in toronto (or wherever you want). It just has to be an official DMP. I believe it is cheaper to do it in canada anyway

Hi everyone!
This is my first post although I have been reading this and other forums for a while, trying to decipher the time-scales involved in the PR queue.
I have a couple of questions to those of you who have gone to Canada through the IEC route while awaiting PR, if I may...

When filling in the IEC form did you put down your UCI number from your PR corresndance? And under the 'work' section, did you mention the employers details from your PR application? Only asking as all the original documents from my 'would be' employer are already with London so I can't submit them again, and they don't need that info. for the IEC anyway.

Thanks very much for your help and responses!
Matt
