Help on CAIPS

Dear experts and fellow group members:

I have recently got my CAIPS notes and I need some help in understanding some of the codes. Below are the brief details of my case:

Processing Post: Buffalo

File transferred from India: Feb 2002 (originally applied April 2001)

Received refusal: Jun 2003 (wrongly assessed)

Requested for reconsideration: Jun 2003

Received initial assessment : Dec 2003 with interview waiver and request for medials, RCMP and proof of funds.

Did medicals (spouse and myself) in Canada: Dec 30, 2003 (results reached Ottawa in Jan 2004)

Medicals for my son in India: Jan 2004 (results reached in the same month).

Note: My son underwent open-heart surgery in April 2003 and recovered completely.

Received a letter from Buffalo asking us to do some additional tests on my son: Jan 24, 2004

Additional tests completed in Feb 2004 (results reached in March 2004)

Got a letter from Buffalo to provide updated personal and residence history (for myself) Jan 2003 to present: April 2004

Sent the requested information: April 2004

************************************
Here are some codes from the CAIPS NOTES
************************************

IMMCAT: SW1

PSDEC: 1 (05-12-2003) SELDEC: 4 (05-12-2003)
BDEC : 0 MEDDEC: 0
OREQ : 0 FINDEC: 0

SEC CRI
Self : 3 pouse : 1
Son : 1

Medical
Stage Validity
Self : M01 30-12-2004 pouse : M01 30-12-2004
Son : M03 02-01-2005

Pending BDEC INFO

REC'D UPDATED WORK/RESIDENCE HISTORY FOR PI, PA TO FILE FOR REFERRAL

REFERRAL FOR PI ONLY SENT THIS DATE : MB 04-MAY- 2004.

Since my son got operated and recovered completely I don' t think he will be a burden on Canadian health care system (this was the opinion of the surgeon who performed surgery on my son). Here my question is: is there any possibility that he will be refused on medical grounds? If that is the case, will they refuse all of our cases or just my son's. Anyway, if he is not allowed, then there is no point in accpting the PR for ourselves.

Any help on the above will be greatly apprecaited.

Thanks in advance

Damodar

Your son's medical is assessed as M03, which means he passed.

Re: Help on CAIPS

Hi PMM,

Thank you very much for your reply and it's really a good news.

Could you please comment on our medical assessment (M01) for my spouse and myself?

Also Sec decision for my son and wife is 1, and 3 for me. What does this mean?

I would really appreciate your efforts if you could answer the above two queries.

Once again thanks for your expert advise!

M01 on meds, means passed no problems, the 3 appears that your background check is still outstanding (in progress)

Re: Help on CAIPS

Your wife and son passed their Security checks but yours is still ongoing. This security check is done by the Canadian Secret Services.

Here are the definitions of your Medical assessments:

Your wife & You
M1: No health impairment sufficient to prevent admission

Your son

M3: Has a condition for which the potential demand on health or social services is not sufficient to exclude admission, but which risk should be considered in relation to other personal and social criteria.

Hope this helps

Yup, you're almost there.

How long did it take to receive your caips notes? I recently requested one for my friend.

Re: Help on CAIPS

Hi Yr,

Thanks for your reply and encouraging words.

Hi Jeny
I applied for CAIPS on Jun 18, 2004 (reached them on Jun 22) and got them back on July 12, 2004 (letter dated July 6, 2004). I think the processing was pretty fast.

Spas:

No idea, why they keep medical decsion as 0 (I am worried) when there are no issues with regard to them. Maybe they will change it once the security decision is made.

Thanks

Damodar

Re: Help on CAIPS

The med decision is made by a medical officer in Ottawa. These decisions are then entered into your application by an immigration officer. In the case at hand, the immig officer hasn't updated the file.
