Hello
Can anyone tell me aprox how much do headhunters charge for finding you employment? is
it a one off payment or do they take a % of your salary for the duration of that
particular job?
Thanks Daniel

Headhunters are ususlly allowed to charge the employer only not the employee. The easiest
way to find out is to ask the headhunter what the poicy and law allows in the province
they operate. Employment agencies are regulated by the various provinces in Canada.

Daniel,
Head-hunters do not usually charge the candidate. Their fee is charged to the company that
hires you. The fee varies greatly.
As a rough measure, I hired an IT specialist for $65,000 per annum in Toronto. We were
charged around $10,000. We pay after the candidate successfully completes 90 days with us.
Hope this helps.

Not always. If it is employer who is looking for a candidate meeting specific criteria and
who is hiring a "head hunter" then of course all fees are paid by such employer. But if it
is an individual hiring employment agency to look for a specific job then he pays
appropriate fees if agency has to do more than just trying to match their existing job
offers database with client's requirements.

My personal experience is that there are headhunters who charge applicants. They term this
more as a resume marketing company than a headhunter. I paid $35 per month for 3 months
and frankly, it was for me the best $105 I ever spent! I got a great job and have no
regrets!! I later learnt they also charged the company the standard fee.
