HD Mechanic Visa options
Hi Everyone
Looking for some help and direction, i am currently in Australia and i am looking at starting a visa process to get over to Canada for work, Heading to British Columbia, I am a trade qualified Heavy diesel mechanic and mechanical engineering, have been working in the mining industry for the past 10 years.
What is the process of starting my visa options when trying to get the correct Visa for PR without having a job offer, who do i use to get my skills assessed etc?
Newbie here so step by step would be awesome what i need to do.,
Also would have my wife who is nearly finished her nursing degree and a 5 year daughter.

From a work and certification point of view, you will need to challenge the Certificate of Qualification (based on your hours of experience) for the Province you wish to move too - so for BC :
Challenge Certification/Recognize Prior Experience
If you have significant work experience in a trade but have never been certified in Canada, you may apply to challenge the certification.
If you have significant work experience in a trade but have never been certified in Canada, you may apply to challenge the certification.
Check any other trades that you think might fit - then pan down the page to find the above part.. https://www.itabc.ca/discover-appren...earch-programs
Once you have successfully challenged you can use that to qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker (Trades) route (or a job offer can help you qualify too). See more: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration...ed-trades.html
The wiki quick guide to immigration should be of help.. https://britishexpats.com/wiki/Quick...an_Immigration

Ok perfect i have emailed the ITA of BC and asked about submitting all the relevant documents to get my qualifications certified in Canada, i was just unsure if i was to do it as it then asks me to do a practical within 24 hours of getting my qualifications certified.

You may not be asked to write the exam - your hours of verified experience may be sufficient.. you won't know until they have assessed your application... and it's 24 months, not hours
If ITA approves your challenge application, you must then complete the requirements to challenge certification in your trade, which can include a practical assessment and/or writing the BC Certification of Qualification or Interprovincial Red Seal exam. You must write and pass this exam within 24 months of approval
