A friend of mine from South Asia wants to immigrate to Canada. He is a haemophiliac
and is concerned if his medical condition would disqualify him. I would be greatful
if anyone knows whether the Canadian immigration treats haemophiliacs inadmissible,
or if in fact the government has some special allocation for deserving people with
such irreversible medical condition.

Haemophilia is a horrendously expensive disease to treat. There is also no cure for
it.The Canadian health care system is already stretched way beyond its capabilities
as it is.Given these unmistakable facts,I would think that it's *very* unlikely that
your friend will be allowed to immigrate.

The severity of the condition and the extent to which the condition may pose an
excessive demand on the Canadian health care system will determine the admissibility
of the candidate. Additional information on this topic may be found at Campbell,
Cohen's web site at the following URL:

Candidates who are otherwise inadmissible can apply for a Minster's Permit, which may
allow for admission at the discretion of the immigration officials. The reality,
however, is that the likelihood of approval under such circumstances is not high.
