Application received by Buffalo: Aug 8, 2001
AOR Received: Oct 26, 2001
PIN Received: Dec 13, 2001
Sent FBI Clearance: Mar 6, 2002
Medical Forms and Interview Waiver: Jul 8, 2002 (received on Jul 25)
Letter asking for residential history: Jul 12, 2002
Residential info, employment info, bank statements and ROLF sent: Aug
1, 2002
Buffalo encashed ROLF: Aug 8, 2002
Medicals Done: Aug 27, 2002
DMP sent medicals to Ottawa: Sep 4, 2002 (Ottawa lost the medicals)
DMP sent medicals again to Ottawa: Sep 19, 2002
Request for Passport: Dec 16, 2002
Passport sent to Buffalo: Dec 17, 2002
Passport got back with Immigration visa sticker and landing papers:
Dec 24, 2002

Visa valid until Aug 27, 2003

I used USPS express mail for sending all the documents at each stage
to save time and track the documents.

I thank all the people in this newsgroup. I have been reading
discussion threads in this group for the past 3 years and this is how
I was able to complete my case without the need of any professional
lawyer.

My advice to all applicants is that be patient, things take their due
time and always submit complete documentation that is required by the
office, nothing more nothing less.

u sent your FBI clearance in march after submitting your application. Did they
ask you
to send it?
Because I wanted to send my police clearance ,I have got a.o.r and file no.
Could I send it even if they havent asked it for yet

Did you get the Caips Notes?

My time line starts one week after your time line. All other info is same as yours. No clue where I am after medical and interview waiver (August 12, 2002).

Do you know how long it takes Background/Security from Pakistan?

How can i find out if they have received my medicals?, will it be
updated at e-client. I am also in the same category as you with my
application filed in Sept-01, AOR in Dec-01, Pin also in Dec-01,
Interview waiver in Oct-02, medical done on Oct25-02, sent ROLF, FBI,
bank, job updated letter on Nov10-02. But eclient still says
processing your application Nov-01. No updates. Want to be sure that
they process every thing befor March31-03 deadline when the new point
system goes effective for my case.

Here is my timeline of canada immigratioin(skilled worker category)
1. submit application (08/06/2001)
2. AOR(10/22/2001)
3. Interview waiver letter(07/31/2002-but the letter dated june/2002)
4. Medicals(08/2002)
5. Landing Fee and additional docs(09/2002)
6. Updated FBI clearance(10/10/2002)

I am still waiting for the final decision letter-hope it is for
requesting passwort anxious. Are there any people who are in the same
time line but still didn't get the final letter yet? I have seen that
some people later than me already received their visa and landing
paper from here.

Overpayement free reimbursed: Mar 2002

Sent a fax requesting status August 2002. Nothing after that so far.

The requirement is that the applicant should submit police clearance
from local authorities in every country he/she has lived for 6 months
or more. At the time of my application, my stay in the US was less
than 6 months. I submitted my application and after I got my AOR, I
applied for FBI clearance and sent it to Buffalo. It is good to send
it on your own otherwise the visa officer will find your application
incomplete at the time your file is reviewed and that will introduce
longer delays in processing of your application.

YES!

I sent it on Dec 17 and got it back on Dec 24. Did you send it via
overnight mail and did you send express mail prepaid return envelope?
Regular mail takes a lot longer and is also insecure.

Answers to your questions:

1. No. I just submitted FBI clearance. Clearance from local police in
the US is not required unless specifically asked for by Buffalo
office.

2. No. I did not use CAIPS notes. Just relied on my gut.

3. I have no idea how long background checks take.

Check with your doctor's office about the tracking number of the mail
service they used to send the medical results to Ottawa. They usually
use FedEx or other courier services that provide online tracking.

If the medicals are lost, you'll have to re-do it. So it is good to
check with the doctor!

Do not send unnecessary faxes to Buffalo. They won't expedite the
process. They only cause frustration for small number of the visa
officers.

I also think that they are short handed but this the least that
someone would do in my situation i.e., asking for status just once in
more than a year.
