Default GOOOOOOT ITTTTTT!!!! Request for passport

Hello Everyone,

Finally, I got my moment of excitement and fulfillment!!
I got the letter today requesting for my passport for visa issuance.

I'm in the US on an H-1 visa (Indian citizen) and have been here since
the past
9 years with travel to Canada twice only. I've a US Bachelors degree
and 'am a
computer professional.

Here are my details:

1) Mailed application (Independent Category with no family members):
Oct 10th '2001

2) AOR: Nov 16th '2001

3) Assessment letter with no interview and requiring new FBI
fingerprints: Oct 25 '2002
I was asked to wait for 6 months to do my medicals.

4) Had sent a fax inquiring about my status (Sorry.....): March 12th
'2003

5) Medicals done: April 4th '2003

6) Letter for Passport request: May 25th '2003

7) The e-client online says 'Medicals received' and 'Decision made'.

I always use FedEx to send my documents and will suggest the same.

To people who received the visa already, here I come ....
And to people waiting, I say you'll get your chance too just like I
did.
Hang in there and plan ahead of whats to come.

I looked around for help and then there was this wonderful news group
to guide me.
I hope you guys will continue to do so since now I've a different set
of questions.

My deepest gratitude to Andrew Miller and all the people who answered
my boring
and repetitive questions !!

In these times, when there is so much unrest, Canada has opened its
arms for people
around the world. And for this I'm grateful to the Canadian government
and its
people.

Best regards,

SK

Congrats. Did you fall under the new points criteria? If so, did you
meet the needed points, and how? I seem to be in a similiar
situation, but fall short.

I got the request for the Passports recently from detroit. Sent them the passports (by FEDEX as instructed) May 08,03. they received the same on May 09,03. Thier letter stated that it takes 10 business days by courier as service standard. Havent received anything yet nor has the e-client status been updated since the interview last year.

1) it might be a naive question ; but, Does it take this long and is it usual for them to go beyond the service standard in returning the passports? or do you feel there is something wrong?

2) I have been in Canada with my family since the last 2 years on tempory resident status. At the time of landing at niagra falls will landing funds be an issue. I have a canadian bank account with a letter from the bank. will that suffice?

I will really appreciate any input & and hope you get the time to reply.

You should be thankful to the goodwill of the US that has allowed you to
spend the past 9 years on its soil. You should NEVER forget that!
And you got your visa from the Canadian government only, the Canadian people
has nothing to do with the approval.
Best of luck in Canada.

Atul....

Green Card? I guess Canada's PR is much better than a Green Card.
I guess Freedom is much better in Canada than the "Freedom" country.

Default to all the "patroits"

Right on the mark SNAJ..........

to all the so called patriots like "chris": since you really like to advise people to show gratitude, why dont you move down south of the border and join the DIXIE CHICKS in singing a song celebrating freedom of speech.............You would fit perfectly with the red neck crowd...........You've got the time anyway to sit home all day and post stupid comments

Hi Chris,

Firstly, you don't have to worry about me not thanking the US.
And don't butt in and add something not related to this topic.

I didn't say I'm not thankful and I've lived in the US legally,
paid my taxes for so many years knowing I'm not getting any thing back.
The immigration procedure is so damn freakin loooooooonnnnnnnnnggggg
that I made up my mind to make O'Canada my home.

As for being thank full to the Canadian people, you're ruled out including
your pal Mr. NorthernLigths25.

Please don't come and create trouble here with your intellectual
statements unless you have good news to spread like
'GOOOOOOT ITTTTTT!!!! ' Just kidding man ....

Hey the truth is I'm never seeing your sorry face (hopefully) so
you go ahead do your thing and I'll just ignore you. Howz that.....
Happy????

Bottomline is I've got good news and you've got none.
And if you do, lets share it my friend, lets get this group going man...

You take care,

SK

Right on target ????

I guess you guys are just out there to poke your nose into other business
even though you have no work here.

Why don't you write something useful, post some important info instead
of demonstrating your three worded English vocabulary ??
Nothing more to add ???

Just wanted to give you a piece of my mind.
Don't worry, I'll ignore all you future messages....

What's your target now ...??

You take care also,

SK

1) it might be a naive question ; but, Does it take this long and is it
usual for them to go beyond the service standard in returning the
passports? or do you feel there is something wrong?

--> I sent mine to Buffalo and they said it will take 15 days. So if you take
15 days, then it should be arriving anytime now. Wait till May end.
Post a question for Andrew Miller, he'll be able to help you more.

2) I have been in Canada with my family since the last 2 years on
tempory resident status. At the time of landing at niagra falls will
landing funds be an issue. I have a canadian bank account with a
letter from the bank. will that suffice?

--> From what I know and have read, it is best to have all the funds needed
on hand (Travellers check etc.). Again, please double check with someone
else.
