To emigrate or not to emigrate to Toronto, that is the question.

Is anyone able to provide advice on their ideally recent experience of moving from
the UK to Canada. My wife and I are really keen but have heard that immigrants get
paid less than citizens, the embassy and visa applications can be a nightmare and
financially we may be worse off?? Is this just scare-mongering?

We're both 27, I'm in IT she's in Telecomms, we've been to Canada a few times and
would like to move but we're wondering about things lack, taxes there versus here,
cost of houses, education (for future family) health etc.

Basically we're trying to weigh up the pro's and cons. My wife has an uncle in
Toronto but he moved over 20 years ago and isn't able to help us much. We'd really
like to hear from someone who's taken the plunge recently.

Thanks

Default Scotland v Canada

I moved to Toronto from England last year with my wife and three children and have not regretted one moment of it. I didn't have a job to come to, but now, 11 months later, I have managed a change of career and earning more than I did back in the uk. My next goal is to buy a house of our own, prices are high here in the city but we will acheive it.

Its hard work, but worth it, I took a big risk, but I was determined and now its paying off.

If you want to e-mail for info you're welcome. Theres too much to say on the subject to condense in a forum like this.
