Default Gaining certification whilst on TWP??

Here's the thing. OH operates a boom truck crane as part of his job, delivering dry wall (truck driver). His current code is Truck Driver 7411, but the new LMO as a job title of Dry Wall Delivery Truck Driver, still 7411. We want to apply for PR but can't because we don't have enough points, and can't claim points for arranged employment as the current job/twp isn't skilled.

The question is ... can he, as part of his job, gain a boom truck qualification whilst working on a TWP? To work in the occupation, as a Boom Truck Crane Operator, in Alberta, you must have the paperwork - it's a compulsory trade thing.

Any offers/advice?

How long is the course? If it is less than 6 months and part time - he should be good to go.

Oooh, that's interesting. I think it's for about 5 weeks, but might be a 5 week full time block.

I think I'm going to have to call the Alberta Training and Apprenticeship people.
