So this happened!
My husband was laid off today due to company restructuring (other wise called dumping).
We are on a TWP valid until May 2016.
Can I confirm that husband is OK to stay here as a visitor until he can find a new job with a new permit? My open work permit on the back of his old permit is still good until May 2016.

Stinky day but we are trying to stay positive.
At least we will get an LMIA this time and not an intra company transfer which will make PR easier!!

Anyone need a management consultant specialising in healthcare?.....

Hey really sorry to hear that tootlepootle. My understanding is he can stay for sure until end of his work permit (just cannot work for another employer until he has a valid work permit) Your open work permit works until its validity date is reached. I don't know about his line of work, unfortunately but have you tried the job boards?

That's a bit shitty. And there's a risk that could happen to any of us....

Thanks for this Withabix, we've got a cushion financially from the settlement but it will be close because of the time it takes to get a new permit. OH is confident he will find something... I am in a visa exempt business which means we can stay on in Canada to look for work past May 2016 but the lifestyle we currently have will be severely curtailed!!
